ONE LIFE, ONE SECOND

ONE LIFE, ONE SECOND

PLEASE JOIN US. Thursday, March 19th, at 4 pm at Civic Center (UN Plaza) BART. Stand with IVAW in silent acknowledgment of the dead in Iraq.

On the 6th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Bay Area Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) will hold an action to call for an end to the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. The event will be part of the day’s actions against the war being held at BART stations around the Bay Area.

We ask you to STOP for one second of silence for each U.S. service member who lost his or her life in Iraq, one second times 4,259 lives. One second is a very small thing in exchange for a life. These lives add up.

This action highlights the growing number of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who have “served” in the Global War on Terror but are now speaking out and saying NO MORE! We speak from our own experience and also on behalf of military service-members who felt as we feel but are not here to tell about it.

Over one million Iraqi citizens have died as a result of the war, and countless more have been wounded and displaced. We do not minimize the suffering and the deaths of the Iraqi people as we focus on the US service members who are gone. Rather, we raise our voices in solidarity to call for  the withdrawal of US military support for the war and to let the world know that we will no longer allow this tragedy to continue, tolerated and ignored.

We hope you will join us.

IVAW - 4pm March 19 - Un Plaza SF
