Please join UFPJ-Bay Area in de-centralized actions to mark the 6th anniversary of the Iraq war.
We are marking the anniversary with unhappy birthday events and preparing materials with a simple demand: Defund War and Occupation and Refund our Communities. This is a theme that has spoken to many hearts as people consider how the billions of dollars wasted on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in addition to the billions of dollars allocated for “defense” spending each year could benefit our communities. We have chosen to focus our actions on BART stations as a way to connect the dots between actions. Individual groups are planning actions at individual BART stations; actions can include street theater, music, leafleting, projection of images, tabling, etc. This is not in competition with the March and Rally scheduled for March 21st. We are also supporting the march and rally and encouraging folks to turn out for both. However, March 19th is the actual day that the Iraq nightmare began. It is important that we take action; lots of action.
